Miss. Vatanak Phikunkeo

Greetings, parents, guardians, teachers, seniors, and my fellow juniors. I am Vatanak Phikunkeo, an alumni of the AIS Phsar Thmey campus, academic year 2020–2022. I graduated from high school under the secondary high school examination in 2021.

My personal experience during my study journey has emphasized both in-class and outside-class schooling.

1.      In-class schooling is a significant technique for all students to polish their knowledge that is obtained from teachers. It is vital for students to pay attention, listen carefully, and take notes on all the important comprehension that is delivered by teachers. American Intercon School is a place that always encourages students to ask and challenge themselves in every doubt with a warm welcome of replying from teachers who assist students along the way. Therefore, this is a crucial strategy that students must have.

2.      On the other hand, outside-class schooling also plays an important role, including self-studying and peer group learning. It depends on student preferences to choose which one satisfies them.

· Self-study is a moment where students can advance their knowledge to a more concrete level apart from in-class schooling. It can be done through research on a particular topic, exercising, revising, and so on. Students can seek quizzes or practices to polish their skills through the availability of information on social media, educational websites, and the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports’ videos that are uploaded on its page as well as on Youtube.

·Furthermore, peer group learning is an opportunity for students to exchange their knowledge, where they can teach or explain lessons to each other based on their understanding. Group learning also boosts the study into a more-lively and enjoyable environment, which can encourage students to work harder. Moreover, this provides students a chance to analyze problem-solving skills, exchange ideas, and discover a new way of solving exercises in particular subjects that can be used in the future.
